In Iceland, I crossed the five-kilometre-wide continental rift between North America and Eurasia, where the two tectonic plates slowly drift apart. That night, I dreamt of dinosaurs that once roamed this part of Iceland. This sculpture attempts to capture one of the dinosaurs from that dream, using a surreal aesthetic to deconstruct familiar ideas of the body.

The surface was carbonized using the Shou Sugi Ban technique and finished with shellac.
